Highly motivated for her first karting race of the season, Beitske Visser was not as successful as she hoped to be at La Conca, despite her remarkable performances. With a puncture in Final 1, a collision and then a broken chain in Final 2, fate conspired against the young Dutch driver and her weekend turned increasingly gloomy. But her desire for victory is still there, and Beitske is determined to take advantage of other future opportunities to reach the first place.
She was very pleased with her 3rd fastest time in timed qualifying, just a few hundredths of a second from pole, during this WSK Master Series, behind the wheel of her Intrepid/TM KZ1 with an engine prepared by Tec-Sav. 4th in the heats, she occupied the ideal place to launch an attack for leadership against the great champions racing in this Final 1. When she was well-placed in 3rd position at the start of the race, Beitske had a problem with one of the tyres that lost pressure, but was still able to make it to the finish line in 7th place.
Sunday’s heats did bring with them their share of problems and the decision to keep new tyres for Final 2 did not pay off. Beitske was hit at the start and began the race with a badly damaged kart. Despite all this she continued the race and even moved up a few places, but then the chain broke, probably as a result of the accident suffered at the start. No luck at all!
Beitske had at least the satisfaction of being very competitive against the best KZ1 drivers on this season start. Although her programme focuses mainly on single-seaters in the ADAC Formula, she also going to make a few special appearances in karting this season.
